Director of Communications

Melissa Jun Rowley joined the REVERB team in 2025 as the Director of Communications. A longtime climate and impact communications creative, filmmaker, and culture + climate columnist, she’s deeply passionate about amplifying environmental solutions and building community through the arts and entertainment.

Prior to working with REVERB, she was a serial media and tech entrepreneur, the founder and CEO of the mission-driven consulting firm and production house Warrior Love Productions, and a go-to expert for the United Nations Climate Change Global Innovation Hub. Over the years, she has led communications strategy for the World Bank, Deloitte, Silicon Valley Bank, Lexus, KPMG, William Morris Endeavor, Cisco, MasterCard, Slow Factory, and several social justice-focused startups and nonprofits. During her time building Warrior Love, she created the Mintworthy Film Project, which provided grants and tech education for independent filmmakers bringing stories of environmental justice and social equity to the big screen.

Previously, Melissa co-founded the humanitarian platform and accelerator, The Toolbox, with legendary musician Peter Gabriel to provide mentorship for entrepreneurs in developing economies and distribute digital tools enabling people to become everyday activists. This mission and Melissa’s insatiable, journalistic curiosity led her to traveling to 70+ countries, where she worked with founders to implement sustainability and positive impact into their operations and services.

In another life, Melissa covered the Oscars, Golden Globes, Emmys, Grammys, and several movie premieres and film junkets for CNN and Associated Press Television News. She also produced business news from the New York Stock Exchange for CNN, and served as a tech expert for BBC News.

Her written work has appeared in Forbes, TechCrunch, Fast Company, The Guardian, BBC, Business Insider, CBS News, and Reuters, and she continues to write columns on the intersection of climate and culture for Rolling Stone. Melissa is a graduate of the Founder Institute, as well as a recipient of the United Nations Media for Impact Award and the Visionary Award from the Business Center for New Americans. She loves adventure travel, hiking, singing, and seeing live jazz, soul, and rock. Now that her love for music is converging with her activism, she’s thrilled to be embarking on her second mountain.
