Ultra Music Festival 2026
Ultra Music Festival Powers Cove Stage with Zero-Emission Batteries
As part of Ultra’s award-winning Mission:Home sustainability program, Ultra’s RESISTANCE Cove Stage was powered by Showpower’s SmartGrid™ battery system instead of traditional diesel generators.
This project is part of REVERB’s Music Decarbonization Project, which works with artists, festivals, and industry partners to accelerate the transition to cleaner energy in live music.
First for a Major U.S. Electronic Festival
Most festival stages across the country still run on diesel generators, but as electronic music continues to shape global festival culture, Ultra’s move signals an important evolution for the genre’s largest events – high-energy production and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand.
Over the last few years, Ultra took major steps forward in climate action by working with CES Power and Showpower to transition three smaller stages to grid power. 2026’s move marks the next evolution, making the majority of Ultra’s stages onsite emission-free, and becoming the first major electronic music festival in the country to transition a large-scale stage off of generator power.
Mission: Home
This initiative is part of Ultra’s Mission: Home sustainability program, which works to reduce the festival’s environmental footprint while improving the fan experience.
Mission: Home includes more than 65 sustainability initiatives focused on pollution prevention, nature preservation, waste reduction, climate action and community engagement. The program has received 12 awards and recognitions in its short 6-year lifespan, and it is just getting started.
Why Battery Systems?
Battery systems, when installed and managed correctly, offer a cleaner and more reliable way to power large-scale stages while improving the experience for fans.
Why this matters:
- Eliminates onsite emissions from stage power
- Reduces air pollution and noise
- Saves diesel fuel and generator costs
- Provides highest power quality benefitting audio and A/V systems
- Creates a healthier environment for artists, crews, and fans
- Helps build the future of low-impact live events
