OVERVIEW

REVERB and The Ally Coalition partnered with boygenius on their 2023 North America Tour to reduce the environmental impacts of touring, take action on the climate crisis, support LGBTQ and Indigenous communities, and engage fans in meaningful activism at shows.

Action Village

Each night on tour, fans took action on environmental and social issues, connected with local nonprofit organizations, and much more in the boygenius Action Village

  • 17,618 Fan actions at shows across the tour
  • $52,451 Raised by fans via donation for custom reusable RockNRefill Nalgene bottles
  • 50 local and national nonprofit hosted at shows
  • 165 Volunteers gave hundreds of hours of time to bring the Villages to life!

Indigenous Representation & Support

The Ally Coalition in partnership with R. Múkaro Borrero, Board President of  UCTP, invited local Indigenous leaders to offer a Welcome to Territory on stage prior to each concert.

In total, 117 Indigenous leaders invited fans to reflect on the ancestral lands where the venues were located and offered opportunities to support Indigenous communities.

boygenius dedicated $20,000 in support for local Indigenous communities.

ENVIRONMENTAL & SOCIAL EFFORTS ON TOUR

Better Touring

boygenius, The Ally Coalition, and REVERB partnered to make sure touring was safe and welcoming for everyone.

  • 40%+ of bathrooms were designated as gender neutral across the tour
  • Calling All Crows hosted sexual assault prevention training
  • The Roadie Clinic offered services and resources tailored to the struggles of the touring lifestyle

Tour Greening

Single-Use Plastic Reduction & Elimination

11,608 SINGLE-USE PLASTIC BOTTLES WERE AVOIDED on this tour by artists, crew, and fans.

  • Water Refill Stations set up for artists and crew backstage, in catering and on buses, and in main concourses for fans
  • Reusable Water Bottles provided for artists and crew
  • Custom #RockNRefill Reusable Nalgene Bottles available to fans for donation. 100% of donations supported nonprofits and climate projects.
  • Reusable or Compostable Serviceware used in catering and tour buses

Tour Greening

Additional Tour Sustainability Efforts

  • Enhanced Recycling and Composting
  • Excess catering food collected and donated in partnership with MUSICALLY FED
  • Rechargeable Batteries used on stage
  • Unused Hotel Toiletries Donated to shelters (otherwise they end up in landfills!)

Climate Action

Decarbonizing Music

REVERB’s Music Decarbonization Project advances innovative climate solutions that directly eliminate carbon emissions created by the music industry. Funding from this project helps develop emerging technologies and promotes the adoption of existing innovations that increase efficiency, expand clean energy options, and reduce greenhouse gas pollution with a focus on the unique climate challenges of music.
