REVERB AT LOLLAPALOOZA
Lollapalooza (the “Festival”) is committed to supporting nonprofit organizations dedicated to improving the quality of life for generations to come. REVERB is the presenter of the sustainability and ambassador programs at the Festival and REVERB is recruiting volunteers to help with its sustainability and ambassador programs at Lollapalooza. Read this program overview and apply to volunteer for the REVERB Team at the Festival.
ABOUT REVERB
Based in Portland, Maine, REVERB is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2004 by environmentalist Lauren Sullivan and her musician husband, Adam Gardner of Guster. REVERB provides comprehensive, custom greening programs for music tours, festivals, and venues while conducting grassroots outreach and education with fans around the globe.
REVERB’s Mission Statement: Uniting around the music we love, tackling the environmental and social issues we face, REVERB is dedicated to empowering people to take action toward a better future for people and the planet. Please visit www.reverb.org for additional information, resources, photos and video.
REVERB VOLUNTEER ROLES AT LOLLAPALOOZA:
PROGRAM BASICS
Availability: Volunteers who are available for a shift each day of a Festival weekend (all four days) are selected first. A typical shift is about 4 hours each day during the Festival show days: July 31, August 1, August 2, and August 3, 2025.
Shift Times: When completing the volunteer application, volunteers will select from a morning shift, afternoon shift, or evening shift. Volunteers will submit an application for each day that they’d like to volunteer and attend.
Positions are front-of-house roles. There are no backstage, VIP, medical, or production positions for REVERB’s volunteers.
Within each REVERB volunteer team, REVERB volunteers will help spread awareness of REVERB’s mission. All REVERB volunteers understand that they are representatives of REVERB and must abide by all rules and regulations outlined by the host venue while supporting REVERB. All REVERB volunteers are expected to complete the tasks designated to them by REVERB.
TEAMS:
FILLING STATION TEAM
REVERB volunteers will work at tented water stations to keep fans hydrated and reduce single-use plastic waste at the Festival. REVERB volunteers will welcome fans, keep the lines moving, and answer questions about the Festival’s sustainability programs.
ROCK & RECYCLE TEAM
The Rock & Recycle Program allows fans to earn a free custom Lollapalooza t-shirt by collecting recyclables around the venue. Fans can visit Rock & Recycle Center Headquarters or roaming REVERB Rock & Recycle Volunteers to pick up special bags to fill with recyclables (cans and bottles). Patrons returning filled bags will earn a collectible t-shirt designed by REVERB. Volunteers will help with answering questions on the Rock & Recycle Program at Rock & Recycle Headquarters and as roamers around the venue, educating fans on how they can help divert waste from the landfills. Since the program’s introduction in 2005, Rock & Recycle has grown to be a hugely successful program.
DIVERT IT! TEAM
The Divert It! Program is essential to the Festival’s sustainability efforts. REVERB volunteers are stationed at the waste receptacles, assisting fans in selecting the correct waste stream (compost, recycling, trash) when tossing their trash and making it fun! If festival sustainability is where your passion lies, this team is for you as it’s the real nitty-gritty of diverting waste from the landfill.
BIKE VALET
REVERB Bike Valet volunteers check in, tag, and organize bikes for patrons who take advantage of Lolla’s free bike valet service, all while supporting sustainable transportation initiatives at the Festival! Requires a positive attitude and attention to detail. Could require heavy lifting.
AMBASSADOR HEADQUARTERS
Ambassador HQ is the heart of all of the Festival’s non-profit programs. As an REVERB volunteer registrar, the goal is to greet the other REVERB volunteers, check ID’s, and use an online program to verify that each REVERB volunteer has checked in for their shift and/or add any brief notes as needed. The goal is to accurately register everyone and quickly get them checked in and on their way!
Other duties include t-shirt distribution, answering general questions, keeping the HQ area clean and organized, replenishing supplies, etc. Could require light lifting. REVERB needs outgoing candidates who are friendly and welcoming to all and, because of registration duties, must also be detail-oriented, have the ability to quickly learn the online registration process, remain professional, and be able to focus on the task at hand.
BOX OFFICE/GREETERS TEAM
REVERB Greeters are posted at and near the Festival entrances, the box offices, ticketing help desks, or at designated spots around the park. REVERB Greeters will meet, greet, and help thousands of fans. Team members might be one of the first people that patrons meet and must be outgoing, friendly, enthusiastic, and helpful and enjoy interacting with large crowds. Typically in a team of two, greeters answer any questions from patrons and help them on their way into the Festival, direct them to the box office or assist in dedicated areas around the park. You might carry a tall “Welcome” sign so patrons can quickly find you. This team also needs to be able to quickly adjust to changes and help identify problem areas.
Fans have many questions as they enter the Festival, so this REVERB team needs to study the Festival FAQs, have a good sense of direction, and quickly learn and communicate any breaking information. A plus is being familiar with nearby Chicago landmarks, streets, public transportation systems, etc.
KIDZAPALOOZA
The Festival is family-friendly and Kidzapalooza is an area dedicated to the Festival’s youngest fans. This REVERB team helps set up the area and assists with various activities as directed. REVERB volunteers will answer questions regarding “tagging” kids by showing them where to get signed up for the Tag-Your-Kid service (to help connect them with their parents or guardians in case they get lost) as well as general questions regarding the Kidzapalooza area in a friendly, positive, and professional manner.
REVERB volunteers for this team must have relevant professional job experience (ex: elementary school teachers, pediatric nurse) and/or an educational degree or major focusing on childhood education.
MEDIA ASSISTANT TEAM
This REVERB volunteer team will help run the media check-in tent and complete other duties as assigned. The media tent is a lively, shaded area full of media representatives from across the country and the world, from local newspapers to music magazines to television crews. REVERB volunteers will help organize a Media/Press guest services area, answer questions, and complete tasks as assigned. Must be professional, friendly, helpful, and organized.
Because this REVERB volunteer team might deal with members of the Press and all Media Assistant team members will be wearing a shirt clearly identifying them as REVERB volunteers, members of the Media Assistant team must be able to respond to any inquiries about REVERB in a professional manner and relay information about REVERB clearly and accurately.
This is a special team requiring the highest caliber of REVERB volunteers to represent the Festival and is especially suited to journalism or public relations majors.
BACKUP TEAM
The REVERB volunteer back up team is the “go to“ crew, stationed in Volunteer HQ. Throughout the Festival, this REVERB volunteer team helps wherever needed to help fill in on any of the other teams: from helping fans divert waste at the food court on the Divert It! Team to telling fans how to earn a collectible shirt through the Rock & Recycle Program, this team does it all! Requires a friendly, positive attitude and a willingness to help wherever needed. Could require light lifting.

- Priority will be given to volunteers who can work multiple days.
- Please don’t apply for more than one team/shift within one day.
- If a shift is full, you will be placed on a waiting list. At that point, you may submit an additional application for another team or shift.
- If you have volunteered for a different non-profit at the Festival, please use the form to tell REVERB about your previous experience and position.
THE SELECTION PROCESS
REVERB recruiters will review all applications and identify and assign the best candidates for available teams. If you are selected you will receive an email with instructions on how to confirm your assignments. All assigned REVERB volunteers will be required to sign a release prior to their first shift.
Please note that we anticipate a high volume of applicants for the Festival and so it may take a few days to receive a response to your application. Thanks in advance for your patience while we review and respond to applications.
Not everyone who applies will be selected as a REVERB volunteer. If you haven’t been selected or moved off of the waiting list by the week before the Festival, it is unlikely you will be placed.
Questions: Email volunteer@reverb.org for further information.
Thanks again for your support and your interest in volunteering for REVERB!
